Equestrian Trails
Lake Louisa State Park offers 16 miles of marked trails for equestrian users. Please be sure you bring negative Coggins documentation for all horses you bring onto park property.
Riders can access the park’s equestrian trails two ways:
Enter the park through the main entrance off of Hwy. 27. The fee for the horse day use permit when entering the main entrance is $6.00 per day per horse. The equestrian parking/primitive camping area has horse paddocks, water hookups, toilet facilities, picnic tables, fire rings and grills. The overnight camp fee is $4.00 per person and $6.00 per horse per night. Camping arrangements can be made by calling the Ranger Station at 352-394-3969.
Use the Equestrian Day Use entrance/trailhead parking area accessible via C.R. 561 to Lake Nellie Road. The entrance road is the right-hand road on the left where Lake Nellie Road makes a 90-degree turn to the right. The fee is $2.00 per vehicle per day and payment instructions are at the honor fee station at the trailhead. The trailhead parking area has drinking water for horses, hitching posts, and a kiosk with equestrian trail information.
